Arrive in Yangon and relax at your hotel before you take a stroll around the center of the city. You will visit the ancient Sule Pagoda, an impressive 70-meter-long reclining Buddha, and see the wonderful Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset. Stay overnight in Yangon.
Fly to Bagan, one of the most impressive archaeological sites in Asia. You will visit the principal monuments of the Bagan site and enjoy its picturesque natural beauty on a carriage ride through the temples. At sunset, admire the magnificent view of Bagan from the lovely Shwesandaw pagoda. Stay overnight in Bagan.
Visit the colorful market of Nyaung U and the beautiful gilded Shwezigon pagoda. Observe lacquerware being created in a traditional workshop, and take a walk through a typical village to experience the Burmese rural lifestyle. Watch the sunset from atop a lovely hill.
Fly to Mandalay, the last royal capital of Myanmar. Observe traditional artisans in their workshops creating beautiful objects from marble, wood, bronze, and gold leaf. You will visit the Mahamuni Pagoda, the historic Shwenandaw monastery, and the Kuthodaw Pagoda. Enjoy the sunset and a panoramic view from Mandalay Hill.
Enjoy a two-hour round-trip cruise to the town of Mingun aboard a private boat. Visit the unfinished pagoda, the world’s largest ringing bell, and the distinctive white Myatheindan pagoda. Return to Mandalay and continue on to the hills of Sagaing, covered by a thousand pagodas and monasteries. Then onto Amarapura, “the city of immortality”, famous for its traditional silk and cotton weaving. Here, you will take a walk along the U Bein Bridge, the longest teak bridge in the world. Stay overnight in Mandalay.
Fly to the village of Heho and then take ground transportation to Inle Lake (one hour). Spend a full day touring the lake by boat, exploring its floating gardens and villages on stilts. Visit the beautiful waterside Paungdawoo pagoda and a monastery known for its jumping cats. Discover the artisan villages inhabited by weavers of the rare silk-like lotus fiber, blacksmiths, and cigar-manufacturers.
Visit the local lakeside market, and then enjoy a lovely boat ride along narrow waterways winding through bamboo groves to reach the historic village of Indein. While there, you will wander through a cluster of stupas dating from the 14th to 17th centuries and visit a farming village. Stay overnight at Inle.
Fly to Yangon. Visit the bustling Bogyoke market and take a stroll through Chinatown. Stay overnight at Yangon.
